Logo La belle époque, quand s'inventait notre monde

After the capitulation of Napoleon III at Sedan before the Prussians, the Republic is proclaimed in besieged Paris. The army of the Loire is organizing itself and for a few months the region of Orléans will concentrate the fighting. Alas, the defeat will be terrible, just as the massacre of the Paris Commune. Then, very quickly, France resumes its march towards progress. We see electricity coming, the phone, the cinema. Industry unfolds, science allows to discover the secrets of nature, rural exodus provides cities with a workforce that is at first wretched, but then benefits from the advances of the Republic: compulsory school for all children, freedom of the press, freedom of association, and soon law on secularism. In the field of arts and literature, the evolution is formidable. Between 1870 and 1905, France changed and for the inhabitants of the villages of Cléry and Dry, it was la Belle Époque, quand s'inventait notre monde.
